LAKE COUNTRY, BC

Lake Country is a community in the Okanagan Region of the southern part of British Columbia. The community is situated between Vernon and Kelowna

on Highway 97. This district municipality has a population of about 15,000, and it has been experiencing massive growth and development, thanks to its strategic location in the Okanagan. With just about 10 minutes drive from Kelowna and Vernon, there is so much more to enjoy living or visiting in this community.

The community was incorporated in 1995 and was formed by uniting previously unincorporated communities of Oyama, Carr’s Landing, Okanagan Centre, and Winfield. Today, these communities that make up Lake Country exist as separate wards. The community got its name from the fact that there are numerous lakes in and around the community, and the whole of Wood Lake and the southernmost segment of Kalamalka Lake are surrounded by it. Therefore, this can only mean that the area is blessed with some good beaches and water sports to keep residents and tourists entertained.

This area is famous for its lakes, orchards, and beaches that stretch throughout the community, making it a paradise for visitors and its residents. If you want to experience the warm and sunny summer in the Okanagan region, visiting this community would give you a perfect experience of what it means to live the Okanagan lifestyle. There are tons of outdoor activities to thrill you, including things like trails for cycling and hiking. During winter, you can also visit the winter mountains for skiing, snowshoeing, and other winter sports. The warm climate of the region makes it an excellent place to produce grapes and other fruits, thereby making the region home to vineyards and wineries.

If you enjoy wines, there are a lot of them in this area and you can tour the wineries to have some tastes of both local and international wines. You can also visit the weekly Farmer’s Market to get some freshly harvested fruits from the local farmers.

If you decide to live in this community, there is everything needed to live a happy and fulfilled life. There are healthcare centres, grocery stores, restaurants and cafes, and good schools for kids. Lake Country is located in a strategic location that makes it easy to connect to other places like Kelowna, Vernon, and other towns and cities in the region. School District 23 Central Okanagan is responsible for providing public education to children. There are three elementary schools in the municipal and they cover from Kindergarten to Grade 6. These schools include Oyama Traditional School, Peter Greer Elementary, and Davidson Road Elementary. For kids in Grades 7 to 12, George Elliot Secondary School is located in the community

The University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus and Okanagan College are located in Kelowna, just a 10-minute drive away.
